Owners Trevor and Tracy Bryant have lived in Vancouver since 2002 and love being a part of this community! Tracy is the Secretary of the Hazel Dell Salmon Creek Business Association and helps organize the Hazel Dell Parade of Bands. Their community involvement includes being coaches for the Vancouver Fit Training Program, organizing events such as the Max Muscle Vancouver Half Marathon, Parade Run and Triathlon/Duathlon. Tracy is also on the race committee for the Vancouver USA Marathon. Both were volunteer coordinators for the 2012 marathon. They have a passion for health and fitness. You’ll see them all over town participating in triathlons and running events or at the local Mixed Martial Arts Fight nights. Their love of health and fitness is only surpassed by their love for animals. They have 6 pets – 3 cats and 3 dogs including a special needs Australian Shepherd who was born blind and deaf. The Bryant dogs can often be found running with Trevor and Tracy in the mornings along the Salmon Creek Trail.
Growing up, I was very athletic and in pretty good shape. I went to college and that’s where things fell apart. I gained about 30 pounds and held onto that weight for quite a few years. When I met Trevor, we were both overweight and out of shape. We had busy, stressful jobs and we ate out all the time! A normal dinner for us was Chinese take out . Breakfast was always a coffee and a sugary treat. In 2002, I decided I had enough of that life. We were getting ready to go to our neighbor’s house to watch TV and I could not find anything to wear. I hated how I looked and felt in all my clothes. I realized that something needed to change. I started making changes to how we ate. I started to prepare healthy meals at home, we ate out less and focused on whole foods. I lost 30 pounds and felt great. In 2002, I also decided to run a marathon. I came home one day and told Trevor I was going to do it. So I joined Portland Fit, on my own and completed a marathon. The next year, Trevor joined Portland Fit and completed his first marathon. That was the beginning of our love for running. Over the years we focused on shorter races and got into triathlons. In 2010, we decided to train for an Ironman Triathlon. That’s a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and 26.2 mile run. That year we ran five full marathons and finished many shorter triathlons. In August of 2010 we completed Ironman Canada. This was such an accomplishment for both of us!
In 2010, we also obtained our USA Triathlon Certification. Since then, we have coached over 60 athletes for triathlons and/or marathons and half marathons. I love to help people do the thing they never thought they could do. Nothing is impossible, no idea too ridiculous.
